Annual Enrollment for Retirees

It’s almost that time of year again.  Annual Enrollment is just around the corner.  This is your opportunity to modify your health plan elections for medical, dental and vision plans and the Flexible Spending Accounts (Health and Dependent Care).  Unless you have a qualified status change, this will be your only opportunity to make changes to your benefit elections for the 2010 plan year. Your bargaining or representation unit determines which enrollment period you will participate in.

                                                                                

Important Dates

Elections for Supplemental life insurance for all units are taken during the County general enrollment period October 5 – October 30, 2009.

Sheriff Early Retirement Incentive

The Board of Supervisors has authorized the implementation of an Early Retirement Incentive Program for certain Public Safety members employed within the Sheriff’s Department. Click here for more information.

  

Safety Early Retirement Incentive

As a result of the recent economic challenges, the Board of Supervisors has authorized the implementation of an Early Retirement Incentive Program for certain Public Safety members. Eligible employees who elect to participate in the Early Retirement Incentive Program will receive two additional years of service credit in their retirement income calculation, if their CalPERS retirement date is no earlier than July 12, 2009 and no later than October 8, 2009. COBRA Subsidy

If you were involuntarily terminated on or after September 1, 2008 and are not eligible for other health coverage (such as a spouse's health plan or Medicare), then you may be eligible for a 65 percent reduction of your COBRA premium for up to 9 months. If you didn't elect COBRA, you may have an additional opportunity to elect it now and take advantage of the premium reduction. Click here for more information.
