Eligible Groups

Elected Officials, Management, Confidential, Unrepresented, DDAA, LEMU, RSA Public Safety

Spouses/ domestic partners and dependent children under age 26 are also eligible

Coverage for dependent children begins at live birth and ends at age 26.

Basic Life Insurance Coverage

Basic Term Life Coverage is $50,000 plus $1,500 for your eligible dependents

RSA Public Safety coverage is $10,000 plus $1,500 for your eligible dependents

Supplemental Term Life Coverage Options

Elect increments of $10,000 up to $600,000 for yourself.

Elect increments of $5,000 up to $100,000 for your spouse/domestic partner and up to $20,000 for your dependent child(ren).

Coverage ends when your employment ends or when you are no longer in an eligible unit.

The policy includes options to continue coverage on an individual basis after coverage as an active employee ends.

Guarantee issue during initial eligibility period (first 60 days as newly hired employee or transfer into an eligible unit)

Employee may elect up to $250,000 employee coverage without Evidence of Insurability (EOI)

Employee may elect up to $20,000 spouse/ domestic partner coverage and without EOI;

Employee may elect up to $20,000 dependent child rider coverage without providing(EOI)

 
 Guarantee Issue during Annual Enrollment
Employees who are currently enrolled may elect to increase coverage by one increment ($10,000), if enrolled for less than $600,000 during annual enrollment without providing EOI.  Employees who are not currently enrolled, must complete EOI for a new election
 Employees who are not currently enrolled in Supplemental coverage must provide EOI for any new election
If currently enrolled with spouse/domestic partner coverage , employee may increase spouse/domestic partner coverage one additional increment ($5,000) without providing EOI
 If not currently enrolled with spouse/domestic partners coverage, employee must provide EOI for the new election
Dependent children are covered by a rider insuring all eligible children for one premium.  This coverage does not require EOI

 

  1. Both basic and supplement life benefits reduce when the employee reaches age 65 and again at age 70.  See the plan certificate for details.
  2. EOI will not be waived (as described above) if you or your spouse/domestic partner previously submitted EOI that was not approved, or EOI is required for reinstatement of coverage.
  3. When a disabled child nears age 26, the Standard must receive an application for disabled child coverage within 31 days following the child’s 26th birthday.  If The Standard approves the request, the disabled child can remain on the policy as an overage disabled dependent, as long as the child continues to meet the eligibility criteria of a disabled child.
